Cookie Policy
Last reviewed 14 October 2026
In its normal state this site uses no cookies at all. It keeps two values in your browser's local storage, a related but separate mechanism, and it carries the Google Consent Mode defaults so that any future tag starts switched off. The detail is below.
The two storage keys, named
| Key | What it holds | Why | Life |
|---|---|---|---|
an_age_ok | The single word yes, written when you confirm you are 18 or over | So the age panel on the home page does not ask again on this device | Until you clear your browser |
an_consent | granted or denied | So the cookie bar stops appearing once you have chosen | Until you clear your browser |
Both live on your own device in local storage and neither is sent to the server with page requests, which is the practical difference between local storage and a cookie. Neither holds a name, an email address, an identifier we could look you up by, or anything about what you looked at.
What Consent Mode v2 does here
Every page carries a short script in the <head>, before anything else runs, that sets four permissions to denied: ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage. It also sets wait_for_update to 500 milliseconds, which tells any Google tag to hold still for half a second in case you are about to make a choice.
The effect is that denied is the starting state and is in place before anything else runs. If you press Accept, the same four permissions are updated to granted. If you press Decline, or close the bar without choosing, they stay denied.
What would be set if a tag were added
No Google Analytics 4 tag and no Google Ads tag is on this site today. If one were added later, and only after you accepted, you would see cookies of this kind:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Typical life |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted | 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps the state of the current session for that property | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics 4 | Counts browsers over a short window | 24 hours |
_gcl_au | Google Ads | Attributes a later enquiry to an advertisement | 90 days |
The table shows what acceptance would mean. Until a tag exists, accepting changes only the value stored in an_consent.
Changing your mind
Every page has a Cookie settings button in the footer. Press it and the bar comes back, and whatever you choose replaces your earlier answer immediately. You do not have to reload the page.
Blocking storage in the browser instead
- Firefox: Settings, Privacy & Security, Cookies and Site Data; “Manage Exceptions” to block this site specifically.
- Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies, then “Sites allowed to use cookies” for per-site control.
- Safari: Settings, Privacy; “Block all cookies” also blocks local storage.
- Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions, Manage and delete cookies and site data.
If you block storage, the site still works in full. The age panel and the cookie bar will ask on every visit, because there is nowhere to record that they already did.
What is not used
- Social-network pixels of any kind, including the Meta pixel, the LinkedIn insight tag, the TikTok pixel and the X tag.
- Device fingerprinting, canvas fingerprinting or probabilistic matching.
- Any advertising network beyond the Google tags described above, and those are not installed.
- Third-party fonts, maps, videos, comment widgets or chat boxes: everything on these pages is served from mirelac.com itself.
- Cross-site tracking, or the sale or sharing of data with data brokers.
